Why Sunscreen Labels Keep Changing — And What It Means For Your Next Order

Almost every market we ship sunscreen to has revised its labelling expectations in the last three years. The product has not changed much; what you are allowed to print on the pack has.

What actually changed

Broad-spectrum claims now need a defined test method behind them, not just an SPF number. Water resistance has to be stated as a measured duration rather than an adjective. And in several markets the UVA indicator must appear with the same prominence as the SPF figure.

What it means for a new order

Raise the claim before artwork is approved, not after. If the label says “very water resistant” and the test method supports “water resistant (40 minutes)”, you are reprinting the tube and the carton, and quite possibly the shipping schedule with it.

How we handle it

We check every claim on your artwork against the test data on file, and we tell you in writing which claims we can support and which we cannot. That check costs nothing. Reprinting a container does not.
